If there is an aspect of your life, either on a personal or a professional level, that you feel stuck in or is in one way or another problematic for you, you may be contemplating change. This would usually entail not just “doing the work” to complete the change, but more importantly, shifting your level of consciousness. The status quo results from staying at the same level of consciousness. Why stay in the status quo when you have been destined for greatness?
What is your status quo?
The status quo is a place where we feel that life or some aspect of life, such as career, relationships, health, work/life balance, and self-image is unsatisfactory, but we choose to live with it because change might seem too scary, difficult, foreign, or overwhelming. In organizations, the status quo hinders growth, innovation, creation, and many times collaboration. To stay in the status quo is to stay in what we have grown to be accustomed to and comfortable with, although we are not completely happy, fulfilled, or successful. To liberate yourself, your team or your organization from the status quo requires a leap of faith, as well as being open and willing to embrace change by shifting your consciousness around what change means.
The status quo is the level where you feel stuck. It is the level of your problems. It could mean many things, and usually includes topics, such as, stepping into a leadership role, taking on more responsibilities, negotiating a better salary, asking for a promotion, having a difficult conversation, becoming a parent, parenting challenges, relationship challenges, learning how to set healthy boundaries, retiring. . . etc
What does it mean to shift your level of consciousness?
Shifting your consciousness is a journey of shifting your awareness from the unconscious into the conscious. As you shift into conscious leadership, you begin to lead your thoughts, emotions, and actions consciously. When you choose consciously, you choose what helps you, not what hurts you. You will begin to mindfully choose thoughts and emotions that make you feel empowered, and help you feel energized to take action towards your goals, dreams, and aspirations. Shifting your level of consciousness to a place of self-empowerment would help you step into your best self. You will choose to focus on solutions instead of the problems that reside in the status quo.
