What Is Coaching For Working Parents?

Parenting is one of the most rewarding roles. At the same time, it can be one of the most challenging. Many working parents struggle with the competing roles in their lives as they juggle wanting to be both a great parent and employee. A working parent’s job is not done when they leave the office. Being a parent is a full-time job, and balancing the needs of your family and your work can sometimes be stressful. Coaching is a great way to support you as you try to navigate the various challenges and difficulties in your professional and personal lives.

Coaching is not about “telling you” what to do as a parent. It is not about “giving you advice.” Coaching is also different from therapy—it is focused on actions and results, instead of healing trauma. Instead, coaching is about helping you align with your inner genius that helps you find answers to your questions and solutions to your problems. No one knows you better than you know yourself. You are the expert in you!! This is why the best solutions and answers will come from within. My job as a coach is to facilitate your ability to begin to hear your inner-genius.

If you are a new parent welcoming your first, second, or third child, coaching can help facilitate smooth transitions to parental leave and returning to work. If you are a parent to an older child and are facing more complex parenting challenges, coaching helps give you the knowledge and tools needed to navigate unchartered waters, achieve goals, and live consciously and mindfully as both a parent and employee.

In coaching for working parents, we focus on the difficulties of balancing work and parenting and how to be more effective in both roles by living a conscious, authentic, and values-based life. Through coaching, you will work to increase your self-awareness and evaluate how your beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and actions impact your life. Coaching works best for individuals who are ready to do their inner work, and are open to discussing their beliefs, thoughts, and emotions.

A few minor anxieties, but I really spoke up about what I was feeling and the nurses listened and helped. You put me in the right mindset before I had her and I'm thankful for that." – Senior Project Engineer

Through our work I gained clarity on my personal values, aligned myself with them for a stronger sense of purpose and enjoyment in my day-to-day activities, and altered my trajectory toward fulfilling my life’s goals. Joelle’s balance of experience, knowledge, and empathy were key to my understanding of the exercises and concepts we discussed.
